Don Kiki White Label Vintage Cigars

I have smoked more Don Kiki cigars this year than any other premium brand. My favorites are the little Don Kiki Brown Label figurados, which offer a short, strong smoke that's perfect after dinner. I have also enjoyed the milder Red Label and, milder yet, Green Label cigars. So it was a nice surprise when a friend gave me a couple of Don Kiki White Label cigars to try. The White Label brand is a vintage offering, made in small batches, and aged just the way I like them - by somebody else. My gift consisted of a 1999 robusto and a 2000 double corona. I didn't know if it was the year or the shape, I don't presume to be able to identify any particular year's crop (see video below), but I liked the 1999 better, though they were both good.
The very next day, I received Cuban Crafters weekly email, and low & behold, the White Labels were on sale. Says the website, of the latest batch: "Exquisite sun grown and extremely aged long-filler virgin Cuban-Seed Habano tobacco from the 2001 harvest is combined with a flawless Connecticut wrapper that was shade-grown in Ecuador." I ordered a box of rubustos. The cigars came packed in a little cedar cabinet, which would make a nice gift or serve as a temporary humidor.
It must have been the shape, because the 2001 robusto tasted every bit as good to me as the 1999 robusto. White Labels are a mild, satisfying smoke that leave me feeling as if all was right with the world - at least until the next vexation. I would recommend them to anybody who enjoys a light taste or to anyone who, like myself, has a humidor that's top-heavy with strong cigars.
