(Cigar Aficionado) After two years of back-and-forth negotiation, Frisco, Texas, now has a cigar-friendly steakhouse where diners can legally puff on a post-porterhouse cigar in peace—or a rib eye. Restaurateur Dee Lincoln was originally going to build a separate, offsite cigar club outside her namesake restaurant, but she continued to push for a smoking room within the structure, and now Dee Lincoln Prime and Havana Dee’s cigar room are under the same roof. (Cigar Aficionado) Sure, it’s a little predictable. Maybe a little bit cliché, but having a steak dinner as part of a night focused on smoking a great cigar is a classic pleasure. When you’re visiting ultra-hip-too-cool-for-me-culinary-cutting-edge Portland, Oregon, going against the grain and enjoying that experience is, well, just the right thing to do.
The right place to do it is at El Gaucho Portland, which describes itself as “The Northwest’s steakhouse legacy focused on old-school, tableside service for people celebrating their lives.” That barely tweet-able credo is supported even beyond—and before—what comes out of the kitchen. (Cigar Aficionado) … One tenacious businessman and restaurateur, however, has survived New York City’s inhospitable smoking climate, and he’s done a more-than-admirable job of keeping smoking culture alive in the city—not to mention civilized. I’m talking about Raju S. Mirchandani, the owner of Bar and Books, which is Mirchandani’s discretely urbane take on the cigar lounge concept. He has two locations here in Manhattan, two more in Prague and one in Poland, all of which maintain what he refers to as an English Colonial style, replete with vintage, monkey print wallpaper and a world-class selection of Scotch. (Cigar Aficionado) Recently the city council of Frisco, Texas, just 20 miles north of Dallas, voted unanimously to pass an ordinance allowing restaurants to have smoking rooms and cigar lounges.
Leading this undertaking was Dee Lincoln, owner of Dee Lincoln Prime steakhouse.
Lincoln, an occasional cigar smoker who is sometimes known as the “Queen of Steaks,” now plans to open a cigar lounge adjacent to her restaurant called Havana Dee’s. Continued

(Dutch Pipe Smoker) ... When we entered the shop we were (once again) greeted by Maclean. Looking around it was smaller than I though, but in a good way. It had a certain cosiness. Also because of the lovely old world style wooden interior. The building itself is really old. In 1720 it was a mill (horse-powered), in 1861 it was a chemist and drug-store and then a hatter in the 1890’s. Since 1906 a tobacconist has been located at this site. Maclean proved to be a very nice, relaxed chap, answering questions and telling about the shop. Strange laws they have in Scotland, you are allowed to sample what you are buying but you can’t smoke it inside the shop. Continued
