Tobacco Review: McClelland Mellow Mack

(Firecured) Part of its Premium Aromatics series, Mellow Mack is an American style aromatic tobacco blend. The casing is sweet, and relatively light, but still dominates the smoke. If you are looking to explore something with subtle complexity, this ain’t for you. However, if you’re craving a warm, honey tinged smoking experience, this may be the best in its class.
CapnStuby at Tobaccoreviews.com wrote, “This is the tobacco that you will wish drugstore tobacco tasted like,” and I couldn’t agree more. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, and there’s no chemical aftertaste. Does it bite? No, and I’m a real puffer. Did it burn to a “fine white ash?” No, my tobacco rarely does. It burned very well though.
Mellow Mack compares favorably to Town Topic, another in the Premium Aromatic series, which I found to be overly cased. I want to repeat that this is lightly flavored as compared to other American style aromatics. If you’re looking for a truly light aromatic, you’d be better off trying Frog Morton’s Cellar, or perhaps, Firedance Flake. As for me, I’m keeping a can in stock for those times when my usual lineup of English blends and Virginia flakes just aren’t calling my name. The nicotine content is mild, the cut ribbon, the room note cozy, the price reasonable. Recommended.
