Kentucky burley tobacco production was down 9 percent in 2011

(Southeast Farm Press) Final 2011 burley tobacco production by Kentucky farmers totaled 128 million pounds, down 9 percent from the 140.4 million pounds produced in 2010.

Average yield was 2,000 pounds per acre, up 50 pounds from the 2010 crop. Acreage harvested was 64,000 acres, down 8,000 acres from 2010. Continued
