(WTVQ) Several key state lawmakers met in Frankfort, Tuesday morning to talk about Kentucky's burley tobacco farms...and how the Obama Administration is considering carving tobacco out of a pending free trade agreement. Burley tobacco has been known for years as one of the signature crops in Kentucky, worth between $300 to $400 million dollars a year, a significant portion of it, grown for export.
"It's an issue for our large farmers, small farmers and mainly for our small farmers. it's an issue that uh, we need to keep in the trade agreements, that uh, we don't need to carve out from those," says Sen. Paul Hornback (R-Shelby County). Continued
