Like most children of the '70's, the word Vega doesn't fill me with inspiration, and the thought of owning five Vegas is enough to give me nightmares. Fortunately, 5 (Cinco) Vegas cigars are not manufactured by Chevrolet, but just in case, I picked the AAA brand to test drive. It's a stocky model, 5.0" x 56, with a nice, dark broadleaf maduro wrapper. The filler consists of Nicaraguan tobaccos from Condega, Jalapa, and Esteli.
The Triple-A has a nice smell, right out of the cellophane, strong but not dusty, which had me expecting a strong flavor, but I found AAA to be a pleasant and mellow smoke. Besides for tasting like a cigar, there was a flavor to the thing that I couldn't quite put my tongue on, but it was good, whatever it was. Overall, the flavor was pretty consistent right down to the end, where it picked up some welcome spice. Not that the AAA is a boring smoke, it just doesn't change much from beginning to almost the last. The burn too, was consistent and self-correcting. If you're looking for an old-reliable for your humidor, this may be the one. Recommendation: Recommended.
