Windsor's tobacco history




WINDSOR, Conn. (WTNH) A rich history unique to Windsor is still alive today and it deals with tobacco - specifically for cigars.
The shade tobacco crop brought in millions of dollars to the region over the years. It also provided work for thousands of people including young teens who worked the fields. The industry at a high covered more than 30,000 acres state-wide in farmland. It has now fallen to about 2,000 acres today.
