My Lady Nicotine is a conspicuous, major-league tobacco book not so much because Barrie was the author, but because, to that point in time, tobacco was, is now, and will probably forever be a topic of non-fiction; Barrie’s work was pure fiction. It was not Barrie’s most successful novel then, but throughout the last century and into this one, for many obvious reasons, it has gained a large following among smokers of every stripe. Continued
