Shore business one of two corncob pipe makers in U.S.


 
(delmarvanow.com) Two brothers are making national history by operating a company that turns corncobs into smoking pipes.
Bob and Bill Savage, of near Painter, have set up shop in a utility building on the family farm that is only the second company in the nation making corncob pipes.
They have only have one competitor, the Missouri Meerschaum Corn Cob Pipe Co., the world's oldest corncob pipe manufacturer and the only commercial corncob pipe maker the nation.
The Savages are the new kids on the block, having founded the Old Dominion Pipe Co., a two-man, part-time enterprise a year ago. They pride themselves on unique, hand-crafted pipes, made from recycled cobs. Continued
