Pittsylvania County awarded grant to survey historic tobacco barns

(Chatham Star Tribune) A state grant may help determine if hundreds of old tobacco barns in Pittsylvania County are historical treasures.
The county recently received a $7,000 grant from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources to survey tobacco barns, many of which are falling into ruin.
The grant will pay for the “architectural documentation” of approximately 300 barns. The project includes photographs, site plans, and maps. Continued
