What would you purchase if your next tobacco order would be your last? Unfortunately, as a Maryland citizen, I got to find out. The law seems to have been intended to give consumers a year to prepare, but the Maryland government kept the thing under wraps, so it made for a mad scramble to stock up at the last minute. Here's what I bought:
2 pounds of Five Brothers smoking tobacco. A strong, simple burley shag, Five brothers is my everyday/all-day smoke. Like everything in this order, it isn't available in my home county. This tobacco is not for the faint of heart (literally), but if you like good, no-nonsense smoking material, and don't suffer from tachycardia, this is an essential. It's particularly good in a small bowl, like those on the Brebbia Leda.
2 boxes Gran Habano Corojo #5 Cigars. Gran Habano's are my favorite everyday premium cigar. They are great in the evening with a pot of coffee. I would have bought more, but my humidors were pretty full already. One of the boxes hit the deadline, so I'm a box short. The box that did make it through enemy lines was a variety I haven't tried before, called La Gran Fuma, which are a budget, short filler version of the Corojo #5 - there will be a review after I've smoked a few of 'em.
And that's it, my last tobacco order. What would you have bought?
