Reviewed: Chacom Bel Epoque #622 Semi Churchwarden

Don't be fooled by the term "semi-churchwarden," this is a fairly long pipe, just a couple of inches shorter than a full sized Stanwell churchwarden. It's not the kind of pipe to hang off your face while working, or even typing. It is, however, a great pipe for dedicated pipe smoking. Chacom, a French outfit, has been in the pipe making business since the time of Napoleon, and it shows. The bowl is a dark gray with light grey highlights (the picture doesn't do it justice), ending in a red godet, attached to a slightly curved stem.
I tested this pipe out with a couple of Davidoff Flake Medallions, a blend of Virginia and Perique (aka VA/Per, Vaper, etc.), spun around a sweet Cavendish center. The pipe smoked evenly, not only from top to bottom, but horizontally too - no wasted tobacco clinging to the edges. It stayed reasonably cool, considering that I tend to to smoke in the Bessemer style. Recommendation: Highly recommended. It smokes as good as it looks, and it's a very good looking pipe. A Chacom Bel Epoque #622 Semi Churchwarden will set you back, around $75.00.
