Sometimes tobacco didn't pay the bills

 

(Hartsville Vidette) ... That was the situation in which this particular farmer found himself. After spending the first night under his mule wagon, he waited for his tobacco to sell; which it did, on the second day.
However, when he went to pick up his check, he was informed by the warehouse operator that the proceeds from his crop had not covered the commission charged for the sale of his tobacco. Continued
