The Lowly Tobacco Stalk

 

(Macon County Times) Well, it’s almost that time of year again. In a few days tobacco stalks will be making their appearance once again as tobacco striping will be in full swing. Holder’s Tobacco Warehouse in Hartsville, TN will be transformed into a den of activity. It is one of the few tobacco collection points left in this part of the country. It is a big, sprawling building, a former garment factory, and a center of activity during tobacco season. A considerable amount of tobacco is stripped inside the warehouse during the fall and winter.
Across the street in the parking lot, wagons, piled high with tobacco stalks, will start to appear. Continued
