(keysnews.com) Recent generations of the Rodriguez family tree are represented not by branches, but leaves. Tobacco leaves, grown first by Angel Rodriguez in the 1940s in the fertile soil of central Cuba, and now carefully cultivated in Nicaragua's equally conducive climate.
Once the floppy fragrant leaves are properly cured, their brilliant green giving way to the deep, earthy brown of worn leather, thousands are brought to a small, unassuming storefront in Key West, where members of the Rodriguez family have been turning them into premium cigars in the heart of Old Town since 1984.
