Four-day Tobacco Festival starts Thursday in Lake City, South Carolina

 

(scnow.com) The Village Green in Lake City is the central point this weekend for the 60th-Annual South Carolina Tobacco Festival. Beginning Thursday night, many events and contests in the four-day festival will be held around or adjacent to the open space.
Tucked behind Main Street stores, the green fronts the Bean Market and Jones-Carter Gallery and includes an outdoor stage, where many of the events are held and where competition winners are recognized.
Competitions this year include the annual barbecue cook-off and wing throwdown, an overnight catfish tournament and the heritage games that honor the skills of yesteryear’s tobacco farmers in the area. Continued
