The 2013 Outlook for U.S. Tobacco
(Tobacco Farmer Newsletter) ... But the outlook is tempered as global cigarette production outside of China continues to decline. The coming year will tell much about how serious buyers are about increasing or retaining U.S. flue-cured production. Curing infrastructure here is aging, and with much uncertainty in the tobacco outlook and strong prices for competing crops, growers have little or no incentive to re-invest in curing capacity.
