Western Cuban Tobacco Crops Grow

(Prensa Latina) After mitigating the effects of recent heavy rains, tobacco growers from the Cuban western province of Pinar del Rio are planting tobacco in their lands.
Tobacco planting will reach its peak in December, when crops will cover 37,065 acres in Pinar del Rio, 70 percent of the national production and most of the wraps used to make the world-famous Havana cigars. A total of 150,000 plants will be planted in the municipality of San Luis.
Pinar del Rio supplies tobacco leaves to roll the Vegas Robaina vitolas, a brand that is highly demanded by cigar aficionados from Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Continued
