Bartow and Polk County officials will be meeting soon to try to resolve remaining issues involving the city’s takeover of the cigar factory building.
The historic building was headed for demolition until a group of citizen activists finally came up with what seemed like a logical plan to at least mothball the badly deteriorated building until grant funds could be secured to restore it.
The County Commission agreed in April to give city officials until Nov. 3, which was last week, to come up with a firm plan to take over the building. Continued
