(Reuters) Lorillard Inc (LO.N) said on Friday that it is raising prices on most of its cigarettes, a move that shows that U.S. tobacco companies still have pricing power even as fewer people smoke.
The price of Newport Menthol cigarettes will rise 5 cents per pack, Newport Non-Menthol will rise 11 cents per pack, and all other brands besides Maverick will rise 8 cents per pack.
Lorillard's price increases will be effective for all orders as of Friday, July 1. The company said it is not raising the price of Maverick, a discount brand. Continued
