Examiner requests auction in Phelps (Renegade Tobacco) case

(Winston-Salem Journal) The bankruptcy examiner for three Davie County tobacco manufacturers is requesting permission to sell six properties that are estimated to be worth a combined $1.75 million.
Gene Tarr submitted the request Friday with the consent of Calvin Phelps, the owner of the three manufacturers — Renegade Holdings Inc., Alternative Brands Inc. and Renegade Tobacco Co. — and his wife, Lisa Yamaoka Phelps. Lisa Phelps' name is on two of the properties.
If William Stocks, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge, approves the request, an auction by Iron Horse Auction Co. tentatively would be held June 9 at 6 p.m. at a public venue close to the properties. Continued
