Farmers benefit from tobacco firm's agribusiness training


(IPPmedia) Farmers from Tabora and Kigoma are the latest recipients of agribusiness training being conducted here by Tanzania Leaf Tobacco Company (TLTC), which has seen 280 locals benefit from its programme on production and crop management techniques.
According to TLTC reports, the company has been conducting these sessions since 2002 and between then and last year, over 4,042 farmers have been put through their paces at one of the firm’s training farms. ... As he opened the training session earlier in the day, USF Manager Emmanuel Soko promised farmers that they will not only learn the basics of preparing, cultivating and managing tobacco plantations, abut will also acquire important information on seed selection techniques and be taught practical, world-class methods for drying and storing tobacco leaves.
