(Tmagazine) ... I suspect that many people have the same problems with the hot toddy that I’ve always had, namely its name, coupled with a smeary misconception of just exactly what one is. A “toddy” always sounded a bit twee to me, dredging up memories of my parents jousting with hot buttered rums and Tom & Jerrys: elaborate, emulsified concoctions that required a lot of whipping, beating and mixing, the payoff for which was a cloying, fatty drink that seemed, frankly, kind of gross.
