(Winston-Salem Journal) Peter Tourtellot, the trustee for three bankrupt Mocksville tobacco
companies, said in a legal filing Thursday that he has come to an escrow
agreement with five states, including North Carolina.
As a result, North Carolina could receive $6.58 million — or about 40 percent
of the $16.7 million delinquent escrow amount being requested by the National
Association of Attorneys General for 16 states.
The combined amount for Arkansas, Idaho, Kentucky and Utah was $32,453. North
Carolina's escrow share is much larger because a significant amount of
Alternative Brand's sales took place in the state.
